Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there two appointments for Health Discovery?

There is usually a large amount of information gathered in the first consultation. Because of this, I like to take the time to work through this carefully before developing your Care Plan, particularly for complex situations.

What does a Care Plan include?

I start with information gathered during the New Client Consult. From this, a guide is created for moving forward towards your health goals. It maybe be refined as time goes on to reflect progress or anything else that may be uncovered.

Aspects of lifestyle and nutrition (mind/body) will always be included in your Care Plan.

Are there additional costs ?

Depending on your individual situation, you may be prescribed supporting herbs and practitioner-only supplements, however the long-term goal will always be to get all the nutrients that you need from eating well. We can work within your budget to ensure that you can achieve the best outcomes from the available options.

Additionally, I may also recommend functional testing, where this may be beneficial to uncovering health issues.

How long will it take to get results?

This will depend on what is going on for you. For example, recovering from an autoimmune flare-up or a fatigue situation can take weeks to months. This is so the body has time to recover and replenish. However, a gut issue caused by food intolerance or dysbiosis can often be resolved over few weeks.

When compiling your Care Plan we will discuss anticipated progress, including any follow-up visits that may be required.

What are the benefits of functional testing or Fitgenes profiles?

There is no hiding that functional tests can be expensive. I generally recommend testing to people who already tried to uncover what has been going on for them, but with no success. Or for people who want to find out specific information related to their conditions or program progress. Some examples include:

  • Levels and clearance of stress and reproductive hormones
  • Levels of thyroid antibodies
  • Investigating ongoing digestive issues
  • Inflammation markers
  • The genetic likelihood of celiac disease before the inconvenience of doing a gluten challenge
  • Identifying specific genes that may be contributing to difficulty with weight loss – allowing a more targeted approach

Testing can also be helpful to reduce the time and money that is often spent on trial and error.

To avoid unneccessary costs, we will have a discussion to agree whether this is the best option before ordering any tests.

Is my treatment covered by health insurance?

Check this with your individual provider. Some insurers have plans that allow you to claim the consultation costs.
